Balls and Strikes covers the labor side of sports: collective bargaining, contract negotiations, and arbitration cases across the major leagues.

Balls and Strikes is written by Michael Maffie, an assistant professor of Management and Organizations at Cornell University's S.C. Johnson College of Business. He completed his doctoral work at Cornell University's Industrial and Labor Relations School and taught collective bargaining and contract administration at Pennsylvania State University.

You may be wondering why this newsletter uses GitHub and not a different newsletter platform. Balls and Strikes adheres to a user-privacy-centered approach to the Internet: your data is yours. This site collects no data about you other than your email address. There are no tracking scripts, analytics, ad pixels, screen recording, third-party data sharing, or other methods of user data extraction.
